White Castle was founded by Billy Ingram and Walter Anderson in 1921 in Wichita, Kansas. We’re known for our original small, square sliders. In 2014, Time labeled the White Castle slider “the most influential burger of all time”.
Our founders established Castles with stainless steel interiors, and have employees outfitted with spotless uniforms, to invoke a feeling of cleanliness. The first restaurants in Wichita, Kansas, were a success — many competitors created brand names based on a play on “White Castle”.
The Original Slider®— America’s Original Craving. A 2x2” 100% beef patty steam-grilled on a bed of onions with a slice of pickle and served on our signature bun.
Anderson is credited with invention of the modern fast-food concept. Due to his innovation of having chain-wide standardized methods, customers could be sure that they would receive the same slider and service in every White Castle.
